Remo Vallance is a visual artist who specializes in site-specific sculpture in public and interior spaces. His sculptural forms capture stories inspired by a myriad of themes such as the natural environment and moments of tension through the juxtaposition of materials in 3D form. He creates permanent and temporary iconic public art with timeless appeal.
Remo works in a truly collaborative way to create visual spatial narratives, employing techniques such as welding, carving and construction with metal and wood. Remo is passionate about creativity and problem-solving with expertise in lighting, metal manufacturing, sculpture, technology, and project managing. He designs, fabricates, project manages and installs with 30 years of experience as a designer and artist.

The Ammonoid takes its form from the Ammonite spiral - the oldest fossil found in the natural environment which for millions of years faced adversity and change. As humans we are facing our own challenges; there is a cause and effect to everything in the environment and our actions have consequences. The creature from another realm asks us to reflect on our resilience as people to accept and embrace change.

The Memorial Flame is Stage One of two permanent works in 'Gympie Memorial Park' which pay respect to all the service men and women involved in war. It is inspired by ‘The Rising Sun Badge’ of the Australian Army and is art deco in style with rays of the sun to inspire hope like a sunrise. The project was realised by Gympie RSL, Rubicon Design + Construct and Remo Vallance.

Gympie Memorial Flame 2025
The Gympie Memorial Pillars - Stage Two - A permanent installation designed to compliment the Memorial Flame as a tribute to the military service personnel in Gympie and surrounds. They represent the four RSL Service Values: Courage, Sacrifice, Mateship and Endurance. These values inspired phrases and words etched onto each pillar with cursive and military fonts and evoke personalised story-telling and memories for individuals and families connected to these service men and women. The hand-made rays and doves at the top of each pillar inspire hope and peace for the future of humanity.

RSL Service Values permanent public artwork, Bribie Island RSL Qld 2025
The sculpture is an acknowledgement of the four RSL Service Values: Courage, Sacrifice, Mateship and Endurance. It was commissioned by Bribie Island RSL and Rubicon Design and Construct as a way to honour and acknowledge the sacrifices made by service men and women in this region. The spiral design is used to evoke hope and optimism and compliment the wave and design of the RSL club facade. COR-TEN and stainless steel create a juxtaposition representing the opposing forces of peace and conflict.

BEE Public artwork
Permanent public artwork, Jimboomba Qld 2018
The bee sculpture creates awareness of the threatened status of bees. Bees are facing significant threats with over 40% of invertebrate pollinator species at risk of extinction due to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change and invasive species threats. The rusty patched bumblebee has been classified as endangered highlighting the urgent need for conservation efforts.
Hand-made bespoke sculpting of the wings, body, legs, eyes and antenna, Remo highlights the beautiful details of this threatened creature creating a combined realistic and dreamlike imagining of this iconic creature we all know and love.

Sculpture Commission - G20 Brisbane
Remo Vallance was asked to bring his concept into reality as part of an activation at Queens Park in Brisbane for the G20 Cultural Program. Standing over 3.5 meters tall and 10 meters long, aluminum pipe was twisted, bent and shaped to create a giant mother dinosaur and her two smaller babies. The public art works were installed in the park for two weeks and were covered in crochet squares that travelled from all over QLD as part of a community engagement and activation.

lizard man Self Portrait 2020
Lizard Man is a self portrait exploring adversity and resilience constructed during COVID lockdown. Remo has had work done on his jaw and teeth at a young age and had his jaw wired shut for a period of time. He reflected on this challenging time and the feelings of vulnerability to evoke Lizard man.

Remo was commissioned by Brisbane Economic Development Association (BEDA) and Brisbane City Council (BCC) to create Xmas in the Queen Street Mall for Xmas 2024. Remo was the sole service provider and director of the project and asked to design 3D Xmas objects to be used for a minimum period of five years. He was inspired by Art Deco gold detail and the whimsy of Alice in Wonderland. He constructed seven colossal geometric baubles of various sizes, twenty four gold diamonds with lighting and twenty five tree wraps with Xmas motifs.
